In the series we refer to floriography, the language of flowers used in the Victorian era. Their significance in this very puritanical era was so important that there were even flower dictionaries with the meanings. Every flower within a bouquet holds a symbolic meaning that conveys a secret message: roses or forget-me-nots love , yellow roses diminishing love or infidelity , daisies innocence , phlox agreement. The photography team transferred this aesthetic concept to their child models, decorating them as tussie-mussies. Their work is founded on a joint fascination with the colours and sculptural forms of blossoming plants. Circumnavigating all this was a challenge for the pair. The otherwise sparse and desert-like landscape of the US state is transformed into an impressionist painting with myriads of rainbowcoloured lupins; red, yellow, orange and coral poppies; yellow and lilac lacy phacelia; and bright, blue-white baby blue eyes.

If we fail, our action will nevertheless set an example for the Cuban people, and from the people will arise fresh new men willing to die for Cuba. They will pick up our banner and move forward The people will back us in Oriente and in the whole island.

As in '68 and '92, here in Oriente we will give the first cry of Liberty or Death! Castro's militants intended to dress in army uniforms and arrive at the base on 25 July, seizing control and raiding the armory before reinforcements arrived.

Reaching the barracks, the alarm was raised, with most of the rebels pinned down by machine gun fire. Four were killed before Castro ordered a retreat.

Castro was sentenced on 16 October, during which he delivered a speech that would be printed under the title of History Will Absolve Me. I am sure this would bring happiness to the Cuban people.

I would not be stopped by the hatred and ill will of a few thousand people, including some of my relatives, half the people I know, two-thirds of my fellow professionals, and four-fifths of my ex-schoolmates — Fidel Castro, Appalled, he raged that he would rather die "a thousand times" than "suffer impotently from such an insult".

It had allowed some political opposition to be voiced, and Castro's supporters had agitated for an amnesty for the Moncada incident's perpetrators.

Some politicians suggested an amnesty would be good publicity, and the Congress and Batista agreed.

    Please notice.

Backed by the U. Antonio met with Castro in Mexico City , but Castro opposed the student's support for indiscriminate assassination. At some points, they had to bail water caused by a leak, and at another, a man fell overboard, delaying their journey. Castro biographer Robert E. Quirk noted that there was "no better place to hide" in all the island. Fleeing inland, its crew headed for the forested mountain range of Oriente's Sierra Maestra , being repeatedly attacked by Batista's troops.

In the Sierra Maestra mountains, Castro was joined by Frank Sturgis who offered to train Castro's troops in guerrilla warfare. Castro accepted the offer, but he also had an immediate need for guns and ammunition, so Sturgis became a gunrunner.

Sturgis opened a training camp in the Sierra Maestra mountains, where he taught Che Guevara and other 26 July Movement rebel soldiers guerrilla warfare.

Beginning on 9 April, it received strong support in central and eastern Cuba, but little elsewhere. By November, Castro's forces controlled most of Oriente and Las Villas, and divided Cuba in two by closing major roads and rail lines, severely disadvantaging Batista. Ambassador to Cuba, E. Smith, who felt the whole CIA mission had become too close to the MR movement, [] [] personally went to Batista and informed him that the US no longer would supported him and felt he no longer could control the situation in Cuba.

Most of Urrutia's cabinet were MR members. He ensured that the government implemented policies to cut corruption and fight illiteracy and that it attempted to remove Batistanos from positions of power by dismissing Congress and barring all those elected in the rigged elections of and from future office. He then pushed Urrutia to issue a temporary ban on political parties; he repeatedly said that they would eventually hold multiparty elections.

We are executing murderers and they deserve it. Without doubt, the TL2 is an absolute pleasure to handle — from its ergonomics to the finish of its exterior; it offers an enormous display with an ingeniously implemented touchscreen operation; and yes, it is beautifully designed, both inside and out.

This has become an extensively discussed topic whose relevance is apparently almost inexhaustible. The fact is that most customers in search of a high-performance system camera do not generally expect to have to download a separate accessory viewfinder, in order to focus and capture their subjects in the way they find both most familiar and also most effective.

And so, many pho- tographers feel compelled to look elsewhere, even if they have already pretty much fallen in love with the camera. After all, even a touch of long-sightedness is often enough to reject the idea of framing shots via a display. Ever since the X series, the company has been investing a great deal of brain power into refining both the optical designs and production methods of APS-C lenses. In the same vein — if for different reasons — the T was never truly recognised as a proper system camera.

This seems an even greater shame when considering that the ambition behind it was to drive the optical performance of APS-C lenses to the quality levels of the 35mm format — which Leica successfully managed to do.

To achieve this, the developers had to compensate for the fact that an APS-C image must be enlarged by a crop factor of 1. With regards to the TL system, all that is needed now is something to revive this sleeping beauty: enter the Leica CL.

It would certainly seem that with the launch of the CL at this point in time, Leica took a decision to grab the bull by the horns. So now there finally exists a Leica camera system to occupy the place below the M and the SL.

Photographers perusing the APS-C area of the market should give some thought to the Leica TL2 and CL duo, especially if they are looking for an affordable system camera, and have an appreciation for outstanding lenses.

The latter, in particular, benefits from the stability offered by a built-in viewfinder, bearing in mind the lack of image stabilisation in TL lenses.

However, it is an accomplishment that inevitably comes at a price.

Though you cannot spot it in the image to the left, the new Noctilux is the first M lens to feature a tripod collar — which photographers are well advised to use when shooting with a tripod, in order to ensure a stable setup. With its more than grams, the 75mm Noctilux is a heavyweight in every sense of the word, both literally and figuratively: when developing this lens, Leica truly pulled out all the stops — applying the enormous spectrum of their expertise in designing products that create unique visual aesthetics; which in this case meant: to enable an extraordinary sculptural plasticity generated by a wafer-thin depth of field — yet with no compromises in image quality, in spite of the large aperture this requires.

The lens is comprised of nine elements. Two aspherical surfaces, as well as the application of specialist glass types with a high refractive index, ensure the almost complete elimination of monochromatic flaws such as spherical aberration, coma, astigmatism or distortion.

Glass elements with anomalous partial dispersion are used to limit chromatic aberrations. Yet while this phenomenon was a very frequent element of daylight shots with a wideopen 50mm Noctilux, the 75mm Noctilux offers significantly higher levels of overall correction. However, he was not actually talking about the challenges of achieving the correct focus in light of the minimal depth of field, but was referring to the physical handling of this hefty piece of glass and metal. We will get back to both of these points later on.

The fact that the second member of the Noctilux family features a 75mm focal length reflects a longestablished Leica tradition — borne out of the experience that the construction of a 50mm lens represents a good basis for the subsequent development of a light-weight tele lens.
